Having trouble? Start with the frequently asked questions below.

Contact us directly

If the FAQ below doesn't solve your problem, email punimaru.dev@gmail.com. You're welcome to write in English. It helps us look into the issue if you include your iPhone model and iOS version, the original video's length, frame rate, and resolution, and the settings you chose.

Using the app

What are the basic steps?

There are three steps: pick a video from your Photo Library or the Files app, choose your output settings, and tap Add to Queue. The Video Info screen shows the expected frame rate, duration, and file size after conversion, so you can check what you'll get before you add it to the queue. When processing is done, you'll get a notification. You can compare the before and after with the slider, then save the result to your Photo Library or the Files app.

What's the difference between Same Length and Slow Motion?

Both use AI to generate new in-between frames. The difference is what those frames are used for.

Same Length inserts the generated frames to increase the number of frames per second. The duration stays the same, and only the motion gets smoother.

Slow Motion uses the generated frames to make the video itself longer. At 2× the video becomes twice as long, and at 4× it becomes four times as long. You can create slow motion and check the result in the free version, but saving it requires Pro.

For details, see How to make a normal iPhone video slow motion after recording.

What's the difference between Inference Resolution and Output Resolution?

Inference Resolution is the size of the image the AI works on internally. Higher settings interpolate fine detail more accurately, but take longer and use more memory. It doesn't change the size of the exported video.

Output Resolution is the pixel size of the exported video. This is the setting that decides the size of the finished video. It's a simple resize, not AI upscaling, so exporting a small video at 4K won't add detail.

I set Frame Rate to Same and nothing changed

If Frame Rate is set to Same and Duration is left at Same Length, the target number of frames is the same as the original's, so no new frames are created. To make the video smoother, choose a frame rate higher than the original (30, 60, or 120fps). Frame rates at or below the original's can't be selected.

For how frame rates work, see How to convert 30fps video to 60fps on iPhone.

Can I check the original video's frame rate?

Yes. When you pick a video in the app, the Video Info screen opens and shows the frame rate (for example, 30fps) in the Before column. You can check it without processing the video.

Processing

Processing takes a long time

Frame interpolation runs the AI on every gap between two neighboring frames. The longer the video, and the higher you set the frame rate or Inference Resolution, the longer it takes. We recommend starting with a short clip at the Low Inference Resolution to get a feel for the results and how long processing takes.

The processing load shown on the Video Info screen (Light, Moderate, Heavy, or Very Heavy) gives you a rough idea of how demanding a combination of settings is.

The app quits in the middle of processing

Some settings use a lot of memory, so on iPhones with less memory (roughly iPhone 12 and earlier), iOS may close the app. Try the following, in this order.

  • Set Inference Resolution to Low.
  • Lower the Output Resolution (or set it to No Change).
  • Lower the Frame Rate.
  • Split the video into shorter clips and process them one at a time.

Having many other apps open during processing also makes it easier to run out of memory. Closing apps you aren't using helps keep processing stable.

I switched to another app and processing started over

In the free version, processing stops when the app goes to the background. Keep the app open until processing is done.

With Pro, processing continues in the background for up to about 30 seconds. That limit comes from the grace period iOS gives apps. If you come back to the app after more than 30 seconds, the job starts over from the beginning. For long videos, keeping the app open is the reliable option.

To keep the screen from dimming and locking while you wait, turn on Keep Screen Awake While Processing in the app's settings.

The interpolated parts look smeared or warped

The AI has to guess and draw frames that never existed, so fast-moving areas and places where the foreground and background overlap can look unnatural. Thin lines (the edges of arms and legs, hair, grids) and things that appear suddenly are especially hard.

Raising Inference Resolution to Medium or High improves accuracy (Pro). Results also tend to look more natural if you stick to something like turning a 30fps video into 60fps, rather than aiming for a very high frame rate.

For what a higher frame rate does and doesn't change, see 30fps vs 60fps vs 120fps on iPhone.

What happens to the original audio?

With Same Length, the duration doesn't change, so the audio is kept as is. With Slow Motion, the original audio is included at its normal speed, starting from the beginning. Because the video is stretched, the sound won't match the motion, and once playback goes past the original length, the rest of the video is silent. If you don't want the sound, remove it with a video editing app before you use the video.

Pro

Is Pro a subscription?

No. Pro is a one-time purchase. Once you buy it, you can keep using it with no additional charges. There are no monthly or yearly fees at all.

I got a new iPhone. Do I have to buy Pro again?

No. While signed in with the same Apple ID, open the Pro screen in the app and tap Restore Purchase. Your earlier purchase will be restored.

If it isn't restored, check that you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to buy Pro and that you're connected to the internet.

What can I try in the free version?

For videos up to 10 seconds long, you can try AI frame interpolation (up to 60fps) on the whole clip. You can save the exported video to your Photo Library or the Files app. For videos longer than 10 seconds, you can try the first 10 seconds for free.

You can also create slow motion (2× or 4×) for free and compare the before and after to check the result, but saving slow motion requires Pro. In the free version, the preview shows a PREVIEW watermark and the save button reads Save with Pro.

The Pro price isn't showing

The price is loaded from the App Store, so you need an internet connection when you open the purchase screen. If you're offline, for example in Airplane Mode, the price won't appear. Check your connection and open the screen again.

Can I get a refund?

Apple handles refund requests for purchases made through the App Store. You can request one on Apple's Report a Problem page. We can't process refunds on our end.

Requirements

Which devices and iOS versions are supported?

FrameFlo is an iPhone app for iOS 16.0 or later. It also runs on iPad as an iPhone app, but we test it on iPhone. AI processing depends on your device's performance, so newer models process videos faster.

Do I need an internet connection?

Not for processing videos. Everything happens on your iPhone, so the app works in Airplane Mode too. You only need a connection to load the Pro price, buy Pro, or restore your purchase.

Are my videos sent anywhere?

No. The app has no way to send videos or images off your device. The only communication is with the App Store (loading the price, buying, and restoring). For details, see our Privacy Policy.
